Thermal to supply mill with waste-heat energy
heat supply systemsThermal Energy International Inc., an Ottawa-based renewable energycompany, has struck a deal with a major North American integratedpaper company to develop and sell green energy worth more than $20million, using recovered waste heat at one of its mills in thenortheastern United States. The transaction represents the first phase of a multi-siteagreement involving the use of Thermal Energy's heat recoverytechnologies, Thermal said. This proposed project, Thermal's largest to date, would usemultiple heat recovery systems to capture waste heat produced bythe mill and incorporate it into operations to offset the use offossil fuels, the company said. The mill would then buy the recovered waste heat from ThermalEnergy at a discount to current energy prices, resulting in morethan $40 million in total fuel oil savings over the life of theeight-year contract.
